How hiring works on a small Tampa ops team.
If you have spent a few years keeping Linux boxes alive and you are tired of filing tickets with a cloud vendor about hardware you will never see, read on. The hardware here is ours, it is racked in Tampa, and when it breaks you are the one who fixes it. Small team, running since 2002.

Life at Blue Arctic
What the work actually is.
Every engineer here has a direct hand in how the infrastructure runs, and in what the customers on it experience.
The hardware is ours, and it is racked in Tampa
We own and operate the machines we run, in Tampa, Florida. You make the decisions instead of filing tickets with a cloud vendor. When something breaks, you fix it yourself.
There is nobody between you and the work
No management layers. Everyone contributes directly to what we ship, and we trust your judgement.
We have been doing this since 2002
The team knows its systems deeply, and the problems are infrastructure problems rather than manufactured complexity.
Uptime is the metric we are judged on
Engineers who take reliability personally fit well here. It shows in small things: we close the settings attackers try at provisioning time rather than in a later project.
What We Look For
What we look for in an engineer.
People who understand what is happening at the hardware level. If you have spent years on Linux servers at scale, understand BGP and networking, and treat security as a design decision, we would like to know you.
What helps your application
- Linux systems engineering experience (RHEL/CentOS/Debian at scale)
- Networking fundamentals: BGP, DNS, routing, firewalls
- Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed and cPanel
- Hardening and vulnerability management
- Physical hardware in a datacenter
- Clear writing, because we document everything
- You see a problem, you fix it
| Servers | Physical hardware: Xeon/EPYC, SSD RAID-10 |
|---|---|
| OS | CentOS, AlmaLinux, Debian, Ubuntu Server |
| Security | Imunify360, CloudLinux, custom WAF rules |
| Network | BGP, Noction IRP, multi-carrier transit |
| Control panel | cPanel/WHM, custom internal tooling |
| Monitoring | Custom stack: uptime, hardware health, performance |
Open Positions
No open roles at the moment, and here is what to do about it.
We hire deliberately, usually Linux systems engineers and operations specialists, and most openings are filled by someone the team already knows before they are posted. So the useful thing to do is write now rather than wait for a listing. Tell us what you have run and what broke while you were running it. We read them as they arrive and keep the ones we want to come back to.
Write even when nothing is posted.
Send your background and what you want to be running.
